چکیده

The aim of this study was to compare the effect dose prepared from two different stocks in an acute contact toxicity test honeybees, Apis mellifera L under laboratory condition. Dimethoate 30% EC contains active ingredient 90.18 % w/w which used as substance. conducted per OECD Guideline 214 (1998). stock solution 69.92 ppm (Stock I) and 4.3ppm II) were deionized water. evaluated against honeybees at doses viz., 0.045, 0.068, 0.101, 0.152 0.228 µg a.i./bee both solutions. Bees treated with dissolved water dosed by topical application on dorsal side thorax each bee. control (Deionized water) maintained for comparison. Assessments mortality abnormal behavioural effects carried out 4, 24 48 hours after dosing. highest tested nominal recorded 70% lowest 0.045 0% Whereas dimethoate 23.33% 48-hour Contact LD50 0.160 (95% Confidence limits: 0.135 - 0.201) dimethoate/bee 0.319 All groups 0.0% during assessment made up Observations sublethal (abnormal behavioural) included moribund, knockdown apathy dosing No sub lethal observed 4 met all validity criteria described 214.

Pigmentation of Some Honeybee, Apis Mellifera L., Products

Some floral pigments (including antioxidants); carotenoids, chlorophylls, anthocyanins and xanthophylls were determined colorimetrically in some honeybee, Apis mellifera L., products; citrus, clover and cotton honeys, three types of beeswax; white, brown and dark and propolis; brown, dark brown and dark. Two solvents (acetone or ethanol) were used for extraction and determination of pigments at...

Proteomic Analysis of Honeybee (Apis mellifera L.) Pupae Head Development

The honeybee pupae development influences its future adult condition as well as honey and royal jelly productions. However, the molecular mechanism that regulates honeybee pupae head metamorphosis is still poorly understood. To further our understand of the associated molecular mechanism, we investigated the protein change of the honeybee pupae head at 5 time-points using 2-D electrophoresis, m...

Male fitness of honeybee colonies (Apis mellifera L.).

Honeybees (Apis mellifera L.) have an extreme polyandrous mating system. Worker offspring of 19 naturally mated queens was genotyped with DNA microsatellites, to estimate male reproductive success of 16 drone producing colonies. This allowed for estimating the male mating success on both the colony level and the level of individual drones. The experiment was conducted in a closed population on ...

Resonance frequencies of honeybee (Apis mellifera) wings.

During flight, insect wings bend and twist under the influence of aerodynamic and inertial forces. We tested whether wing resonance of honeybees (Apis mellifera) matches the wingbeat frequency, against the 'stiff element' hypothesis that the wing's first longitudinal mode exceeds the wingbeat frequency. Six bees were immobilized with their right wing pair outspread, and stimulated with a shaker...

Discrimination of single bars by the honeybee (Apis mellifera)

The bees learn to come for a reward to a very simple pattern, a black bar in a fixed position on a white background, in a Y-choice apparatus, with the targets presented in the vertical plane at a fixed range. They were trained on a number of different arrangements of a single bar on one or both targets. The trained bees were then given appropriate tests to discover what cues they had learned. A...
